About us
I am a cancer patient and while undergoing conventional treatment I felt very strongly that there was more I could do to help my body and mind fight cancer and put myself on the long tail of the survival distribution chart.
This is when I came across the following books:
-
•O. Carl Simonton M.D., Stephanie Mathews-Simonton, James L. Creighton, “Getting Well Again”, Bantam 1980
-
•Prof Richard Beliveau and Dr Denis Gingras, “Foods to fight cancer”, Dorling Kindersley, Great Britain 2007
-
•Dr David Servan-Schreiber, “Anticancer a new way of life”, Penguin Books, Great Britain 2008
-
•Dr Michael Murray, Dr Joseph Pizzorno, Lara Pizzorno MA LTM, “The Encyclopaedia of Healing Foods”, Time Warner Books, Great Britain 2006
I strongly recommend reading all of them. I found myself in their experiences, wisdom and believes. I then spent a lot of time and energy searching for data on food compounds that inhibit cancer cell growth as well as on the importance of the mind, physical exercise and environment for our well-being.
Many cancer patients, friends and family asked me about these findings. I therefore came up with the idea of Beat The Odds cookbook accompanied by this internet site to raise awareness on Dr Carl Simonton work and on how we can participate in preventing and curing cancer through our life style choices, as supported by scientific research. Not knowing how we can nourish life within us through our mind and emotions, diet and exercise, is giving us false hopelessness and hopelessness increases cancer risk.
It is important to understand that:
-
•We all have malfunctioning cells in our bodies, it is part of being a living organism, but not all of us will get cancer.
-
•Our bodies are armed with the best defence army - our immune system – to detect and destroy abnormal cells.
-
•When a cell undergoes malignant change it looses its ability to perform any complex function, including its ability to repair itself. This makes it vulnerable to many forms of treatment and to our immune system.
-
•Cancer cells are weak and deformed. They kill us primarily because of overpopulation.
-
•A cancer cell never attacks a white blood cell.
-
•Even if we have cancer there is much more right with us than wrong.
-
•Our mind and emotions, diet and exercise program influence our immune system and ability to prevent and fight cancer.
-
•It is best to embrace our personal evolution from a perspective of excitement and desire, not fear.
Starting now, we can maximise our chances of fighting and preventing cancer by adopting a life-style that activates and strenghtens our immune system and allows us to live our life more fully while we have it to live.
I sincerely hope the information contained herein will inspire you to embrace and further investigate an anticancer life style and that you will send many recipes.
Wishing you a very healthy, happy and fulfilling life.
